This notice explains how I use the personal information that you give me through this website, by phone or by email. It also explains your rights.
Last updated: 5 October 2026.
Who I am
I am Kirstan Murphy Adams, trading as Richmond Psychotherapy, Counselling and Life Coaching, 1 Golden Court, Richmond upon Thames TW9 1EU. I am the data controller for the personal information in this notice. To ask about your information, email murphyadams@hotmail.com or call 07757 691107.
What information I collect
- When you contact me: your name, your email address, your phone number and what you write in your message. A message can include information about your health or your circumstances.
- When you visit this website: the web server records technical information, such as your IP address, the page you asked for, the date and time, and your browser type. Almost all websites do this.
- If you accept analytics cookies: Google Analytics records how you use the site, for example which pages you visit and how you found the site. See cookies below.
How I use your information, and why the law allows it
- To reply to you and to arrange therapy. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to people who contact me, and the steps you ask me to take before we agree to work together.
- Information about your health. I use it only to reply to you and to provide or arrange psychotherapy. The legal basis is the provision of health care (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(h) and the Data Protection Act 2018). As a psychotherapist, I have a professional duty of confidentiality.
- Server records. I use them only to keep the website secure and working. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a safe, working website.
- Analytics. I use Google Analytics only if you agree. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
I do not sell your information, and I do not use it for marketing.
Who I share your information with
I do not share your information, except in these cases:
- Service providers that process it for me:
- Hetzner Online hosts this website in Germany.
- Amazon Web Services sends messages from the contact form to my email inbox. It does this from servers in the USA.
- Microsoft provides my email service.
- Google provides the fonts on this website. Your browser downloads them from Google, which receives your IP address. If you accept analytics cookies, Google also provides Google Analytics.
- Your health insurer, if you use your insurance for therapy. I give your insurer only what it needs to approve and pay for your sessions, for example your name, your membership number and the dates of your sessions.
- When the law requires it, or when there is a serious risk of harm to you or to someone else.
Some of these providers can process information outside the UK, for example in the USA. When they do, they use the safeguards that UK data protection law requires, such as the UK-US data bridge or standard contractual clauses.
How long I keep your information
- Enquiries that do not lead to therapy: up to 12 months. Then I delete them.
- Web server records: up to 14 days.
- Google Analytics data: up to 14 months.
If you become a client, I will tell you how I keep client records when we start to work together.

Security
This website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Email is not always fully secure. Please do not send very private details by email or through the contact form. We can talk about them when we meet.
