I am a registered psychotherapist with Bupa, Aviva, WPA, Cigna and Vitality. If you have private health insurance with one of these companies, your policy may pay for your therapy sessions.

How to use your health insurance

  1. Check your cover. Read your policy or call your insurer. Ask if it covers psychotherapy or mental health treatment, and for how many sessions.
  2. Ask what you need before you start. Most insurers want you to get approval first, and some ask for a GP referral. Your insurer then gives you an authorisation or claim number.
  3. Contact me. Tell me your insurer, your membership number and your authorisation number.
  4. Start your sessions. I will explain how billing works with your insurer, and if you need to pay anything yourself, for example an excess.

Bupa

I am listed on Bupa Finder as a fee-assured psychotherapist. Bupa says that its health insurance customers will not get extra bills from fee-assured therapists, as long as their policy covers the treatment.
